About

Welcome to Energy Check. This is a place where you can get original stories and a fresh perspective on energy news. One interesting thing about covering energy is that it really does embody the theory that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The Carter administration called for the nation to generate 20 percent of its energy from wind energy, solar power and conservation. Sound familiar? That didn’t happen. Only about three percent of our entire energy portfolio comes from wind and solar resources. And, while Carter suggested we put on our sweaters during the winter instead of turning up the heat, I find myself putting on my sweater in the sweltering summer while I’m indoors because of the overuse of air conditioning in commercial buildings.

Same issues, different decade and always a bit of a twist.

President Obama wants to cut carbon emissions by 20 percent by 2020 below 1990 levels. Will it happen? We’ll follow the green path to see how the story unfolds…

  1. Dee,
Good start. The two interviews were unique and thus worthy of your attention and my reading of them.
Now the challange is how to keep that high standard going – daily!
    Best regards,
    Branko
